October 10th, Ulad Radkevitch, our VP marketing, sales and business development, successfully defended his dissertation in the Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University (The Netherlands) and was awarded the title of PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in management.

Ulad’s dissertation is devoted to online reverse auctions, in which buyers seek to select a supplier and suppliers compete for service contracts by submitting their bids online. Such auctions were first introduced by General Electric corporation less than 10 years ago and now they are in high demand among many companies worldwide, which optimize their purchases of goods and services.

Many might know online markets of IT services, such as Elance, Rent-a-coder and oDesk, which operate as online reverse auctions. On these markets customers have a possibility to compare and choose IT-vendors. In his dissertation Ulad investigates the influence of different aspects of buyers´ and vendors´ behaviour on the results of auctions and IT projects. According to estimations, the practical implementation of recommendations even of one the dissertation’s chapters is likely to increase the volume of IT projects at Elance, the largest of such marketplaces, by 40+ million US dollars over a 2-year period.

Ulad will apply his knowledge and skills to strengthen the competitive position of ScienceSoft in the global IT marketplace. We wish Ulad further success!
