The Customer is one of Europe’s largest IT service providers with more than 20 offices and nearly 16 000 employees across the globe. The company offers solutions and services in various domains such as telecom, oil and gas, finance, healthcare and others. As the leading IT solutions provider in the region, the Customer pledges efficiency and security of their services.
Challenge
The Customer wanted to build a disaster-tolerant data center at one of their offices and required full infrastructure support. The main challenge lay in the deployment of Vblock Systems – an integrated infrastructure platform including servers, switches as well as storage and virtualization software. The innovative technology was to be used in the country for the first time.
Solution
ScienceSoft infrastructure architects worked in close cooperation with vendors and third-party service providers to choose the solution that would satisfy the Customer’s business needs. Having hands-on experience with the Vblock Systems infrastructure, ScienceSoft specialists designed a data center infrastructure able to provide scalability and reduce operational costs. Upon the hardware and software installation, they successfully launched the system.
The infrastructure encompasses 80 physical servers and 200 virtual machines that run Windows and Linux with VMware vSphere. Currently, ScienceSoft team of 2 Network and 3 System Engineers delivers L2/L3 support to ensure that the environment is up and running.
In the course of the project, ScienceSoft also helped the Customer to migrate their legacy data center from one office to another located in a different city. Thanks to ScienceSoft design and supervision, all the Customer’s applications and services were moved without any downtime.
Results
The Customer’s full and uninterrupted control over the data center allows their clients to exploit the capacities to the fullest.
