Challenge

The company was developing a complex document management system for a parliament in a more than 100 million country. ScienceSoft was commissioned to create an application for Windows tablets to help parliamentarians achieve a smooth document flow.

Solution

The user interface of the app was designed in a very intuitive manner, so that users could perform tasks in a snap of a finger. Resembling an e-mail agent, the tool applies role-based access control to allow browsing through documents in folders, reading and approving them or sending back for revision. Document attributes such as title, summary, commentaries and attachments (audio, images, PDF and voice records) are available at hand without the need to leave the app. The tool provides a read-only mode for unauthorized users, which can be convenient during meetings and plenary sessions.

The ability to work in both online and offline offers continuous access to the document flow. All changes performed during offline are automatically synced with the server via the Internet connection. Users can grasp recent updates with the help of push notifications.

Results

Within 2 months, ScienceSoft team of 1 Architect, 2 .NET Developers and 1 Tester delivered the app in line with the requirements. The tool has received a positive feedback from the parliamentarians, who now actively use it to streamline the legislative process.
