Software Testing Outsourcing for a SaaS Provider

The Customer is a software product company offering SaaS that enables various types of associations to build their web presence in order to organize and manage communities, enhance member retention and growth, and improve public relations within the communities.

Challenge

The Customer needed to manage an extensive backlog of unresolved defects in their SaaS product. The Customer planned to fix the defects and needed to allocate sufficient QA resources to support the further growth of the product. Thus, the Customer searched for a software testing outsourcing vendor to retest the defects in the backlog and carry out regression testing, as well as verify new functionality introduced to their product.

Solution

After a thorough selection process, the Customer employed ScienceSoft as a software testing outsourcing vendor for 1+ year-long cooperation.

ScienceSoft’s lead test engineer undertook the project and started by accumulating knowledge about the Customer’s product and project processes.

While performing testing activities, the test engineer worked hand-in-hand with the Customer’s in-house test team. She managed to establish smooth and result-oriented collaboration with the team members.

Once the Customer’s development team fixed the defects in the backlog, the test engineer verified the functionality in question. At the end of each project iteration, the test engineer carried out regression testing to make sure that fixing the defects did not influence the quality of the product.

After the backlog volume was reduced by 70%, the test engineer got down to verifying new functionality introduced to software. Relying on the software requirements, she designed and executed test cases, reporting the discovered defects to the Customer via Confluence Jira. At the end of each iteration, the test engineer compiled a test results report, highlighting the number of the executed, passed, and failed test cases and the number of discovered defects.

Results

ScienceSoft’s test engineer contributed to reducing the backlog of unresolved defects in the Customer’s SaaS by 70%. Due to ScienceSoft’s speed and efficiency of testing, the Customer could enrich their SaaS product with new features without having to concern about product performance.
