Testing of an MSP Application for a US-based IT Company
Customer
The Customer is a US-based IT company offering expert tools for managed service providers (MSPs) to streamline their processes and effectively run all the aspects of the business.
Challenge
Back in 2013, the Customer developed a business analysis and alignment tool for MSPs. Over the years, the tool grew less effective and outdated. As the application employs old technologies and architecture, the Customer couldn’t upgrade it and add new features, so a new up-to-date-application offering a better UX was required. At the same time, the Customer couldn’t deactivate the outdated application completely, as it would lead to losing its current users. Thus, the Customer had to fix the older version of the application to provide the existing and perspective clients with some temporary solution in the meantime.
The Customer’s requirements called for thorough testing services, so the Customer turned to ScienceSoft.
Solution
ScienceSoft’s testing team explored the application and restored product requirements. This facilitated the work of the whole team and especially the newcomers.
The testing team manually performed functional, regression and performance testing of the application to tackle critical issues hampering its operation. Testing uncovered 125 bugs, including 39 critical ones, which were registered in JIRA and fixed. Additionally, the usability testing discovered that the application was not convenient for users. Based on the testing findings, the subsequent redesign made the application user-friendly and engaging.
Results
Thanks to well-coordinated teamwork of ScienceSoft’s testing team, the Customer obtained a viable temporary MSP solution offering fully functional services to the Customer’s end clients.
The project was a well-done start for meaningful cooperation. Now ScienceSoft’s specialists are working on the new application for the Customer.
