Testing of Workforce Management Software
Customer
A leading supplier of service management software in the European region that offers solutions for automated workforce management. It consists of mobile application and cloud solution designed to organize service teams. More than 500 companies use the Customer’s solution for their processes in IT Service Management, Customer Services Management and Field Service Management.
Challenge
The Customer possesses a web-based platform for workforce management that allows users to plan and register their activities. The system has complex business logic, consists of various modules and supports different users’ roles. Users can interact with the system through a web portal or mobile application.
Every day in the Netherlands more than 25,000 professionals and 100,000 clients use the system. As the number of users continuously increase, system logic and architecture become more complex, it is crucial to guarantee stable and correct system work. Therefore, the Customer chose ScienceSoft’s testing team to improve the whole system (both web and mobile apps) quality. The testing process should be performed in parallel with new functionality development.
Solution
ScienceSoft’s dedicated team decided to execute smoke, functional and regression testing of the mobile and web app. On the base of reviewed specification intelligible test cases were created.
Smoke testing was performed for every build with new functionality. After smoke tests completion, ScienceSoft team continued with execution of functional testing, at the end of which the Customer received bug reports. After reported bugs were fixed, regression testing phase started. To check if users of all popular browsers can easily use the system without any mistakes, cross-browser testing of the web app was performed.
ScienceSoft testers took part in planning and estimating of the development process, fulfilled in Agile (Scrum) methodology.
Results
ScienceSoft’s dedicated team helped the Customer achieve high quality standards of their system (both web and mobile apps) that contributed to the client base growth.
At the moment, the Customer continues cooperation with ScienceSoft. Our dedicated team is responsible for testing a part of a new system version that is being developed.
