SharePoint Intranet to Unify Internal Processes across Two Recently Merged Companies
Client
The Client is the world's leader in development and manufacturing of aluminum profiles. Recently, the company has merged with the second largest player in the market and now operates in over 30 countries with 15,000 employees.
Challenge
After the merger, there came up the need to integrate and optimize the two completely different administrative structures and the variety of internal processes without interrupting the daily business. Therefore, the Client needed a centralized and comprehensive system to involve all the company’s locations and employees in a single intranet business environment.
Solution
A recognized expert in corporate intranet development, ScienceSoft suggested exploiting Microsoft SharePoint as the basis for the future site. Since the Client had been using EPiServer CMS to manage content on their intranet and extranet websites, ScienceSoft developers designed the new solution so that it would provide the same look and feel as the legacy environment. Thus, the Client was able to achieve a low learning curve for their employees.
In close cooperation with the stakeholders, ScienceSoft worked out multiple templates and predefined workflows for integrating and managing projects, including processes, roles and tasks, in a unified manner. The approach allowed employees to quickly join new projects and teams as well as managers to take control over the distributed teams.
Results
The Client received an enterprise portal to unify and integrate business processes across the two recently merged companies.
