POS-Integrated Software for Retail Chain Store Management Automation
About Our Client
The Client is a large Scandinavian company that offers integrated hardware and software systems for retail automation.
Challenge
One of the Client’s customers, a chain of beauty stores, had a store management software integrated with a customized replication solution which transmitted data from the POS (Point of Sale) to the data center. Because of certain architecture limitations, the tool could not help the company drive business growth and deliver quality customer service. One of the main system’s drawbacks was that it provided very little integration of the POS, back-end and various external services.
Solution
ScienceSoft's retail app development experts were commissioned to reengineer the system building it on top of the Microsoft platforms. Committed to the Web 2.0 approach, the team created a user-friendly application that could be extended with new features as well as connected to various external systems. Particularly, ScienceSoft ensured the following improvements:
- Unlimited access to basic management functionality.
- Continuous interaction between the POS and the central server, which allowed seamless updating of product and services data.
- Access to the store management module from the outside stores.
- Regular updates of stock data in the inventory system.
- Integration of the external services, such as CRM, direct marketing, statistics and others, and the core retail system.
Results
The team delivered the project according to the requirements and without delay. The Client and ScienceSoft continued their cooperation to support the system and introduce new functionality.
